Gosh and I are now home for a few weeks - Just in time for the record breaking heat wave so we have both spent most the time hiding in the house. 39c is far too warm for a big, hairy dog. The sailing home was excellent -flat calm and a cool cabin so we both had a good day time snooze.
Before we headed off for the Island we had a couple of quick adventures -first was NT Dudmanston. It has beautiful sweeping grounds that run down to the Big Pond. Really pleased that decent areas of grasses and wild flowers are being left for pollinators, there were lots of damsels and dragons in evidence and all 3 speed merchants were in evidence.

The next visit was NT Wightwick Manor -Oh My - This is probably the best example of an Arts and Crafts building -still full of all the original furniture and wall coverings of William Morris and other members of the movement, there was also an exhibition of Rossetti family pieces. Again the gardens had plenty of wild areas in among the more formal plantings. Poppies are the theme of the year and red was quite stunning.

I also did a quick swing by Prees Heath - the eggs were still on the Orchid - and there were lots of Silver-studded Blues dancing over the Heather

Our adventures are continuing.
The heat in August did restrict activity a bit but we are starting to get more and not just to the show ring.
At the water tests we got to witness something I never ever imagined I would see when the army flying school in Wales was deployed to help put fight the wild fires - he had a return time of 90secs - testament to the temperament of the 30+ Newfoundlands and 1 Leonberger that not a single dog turned a hair.
Over the bank holiday a trip to Ludlow for a Medieval Fair - what a beautiful town with stunning buildings and a great farmers market. Very friendly all round, then a day dragon hunting which was pretty successful, including watching a female Southern ovipositing on the bank of a pond.
Yesterday was a trip to Rhiwagor Waterfall - bit overcast, could hear birds but not much seen. Can't make my mind up about the Stonechat

Lovely set of photo's from your trip to Rhiwagor Waterfall Caroline. We do like a good waterfall.

Lovely catch- up Cin... not sure how i missed your 4th September pics! That looks like the pub me and Mrs PB frequented! If you go to the left of it, there was a little alley, and a chap made handbags to order, in just a couple of days, and he made a reindeer leather one for Mrs PB, so soft, and she still uses it... and his wife ran/ managed a Japanese restaurant, down the hill towards the castle, if I remember rightly. Lovely seeing paddling boy, and super dragons! And nearly forgot the waterfall!! Very lovely
