Birds of Poole Harbour Osprey Boat Trip 27/08/2026

Post by PimperneBloke »

An osprey spotting boat trip round Poole Harbour organised by BOPH, on an intermittently grey and sunny day. The previous few trips had all resulted in multiple Osprey, and several White Tailed Eagle sightings, so I was full of optimism. I'd done a similar trip before, but forgot that it's generally a better trip for spotters than photographers, due to large distances to the subjects :( There were unfortunately no eagles, but a minimum of 4 Osprey, and several other birds.
I've whittled the 1000+ photos to 43, so hopefully not a chore!

Can't be bad seeing 4 osprey... Lovely photo's of the sandwich tern, one I don't tend to see :( Nice to see the black tailed godwits in formation. Looks like it was a good trip PB.

Quite an air show. Starting with the ground crew then the single aerobatic displays from various performers and finally Godwit Display Team to round off a great day.

Well you spotted an Osprey or 2 on your boat trip, shame you never got WTEs but you still got plenty of other things the photograph . The tern with its dinner was really nice
