I'm fairly certain the white bird was a Cattle Egret.

Well done Willpar. Some good captures there.

Re: Pot Pourri
Thank you JS, had to look up the egret to confirm that it was a cattle one. Seems that cattle egrets have a pouch where its beak meets its neck. but not a bad month.
Re: Pot Pourri
Decembers video is here. Must admit had to change tactics a bit as i was seeing hardly anything around the lanes. So went down to the lake a few times, and turned out to be a good move with plenty to video.

Nice to find a grey wagtail William and those shelducks down at the lake. It took me most of last year to find shelduckWillpar wrote: Thu Jan 01, 2026 5:39 pm Decembers video is here. Re: Pot Pourri
Thank you Snappy, there is a freshwater lake that has a dam. Other side of the dam is a tidal basin. A great place to go, but also very popular with dog walkers. That is what puts me off as some dogs were running ragged and chasing the waterfowl. A swan did get killed there by a dog, and the council had to search for another mate for it. But having said that, the few dimes I went down there in December. the dogs were well behaved. First time I have been there for two or three years.

Re: Pot Pourri
A great 10 minutes of Devon sunshine and wildlife.
PS one of the mushrooms slipped under Forum standards or perhaps it was my imagination.

Thank you JS, thought it was unusual to see fungi that late. But quite a good month to have been out and about.
Re: Pot Pourri
Another challenging month was January. This time mainly due to the weather with a few storms/Gales passing by and the relentless rain we were getting. But did make it, but a shorter one. Some damage after storm Goretti passed through down the woods.
Re: Pot Pourri
Great video William. That was an early daffodil! Nice to get the shelduck, little egret and heron.
