Off on our travels

Post by Germain »

Young Gosh and I are about to set off on our travels again - it will be a mixture of wildlife, working trials, showing and granny duties so be prepared for the usual odd assortment of photos - Hopefully first stop will be Martin Down for some Chalkhill Blues - keep fingers crossed for our water trials as the first lot have been cancelled due to Blue-green algae - I'm going to have to be careful about where we swim

Have a fantastic time, Cin. The quarries on Portland are apparently awash with chalkhills at the mo, according to Dorset butterfly sightings page. Looking forward to an array of fab pics 😁

first of the photos - there will be more but its been a long day. Martin Down did not disappoint and the wild flowers were wonderful - I need id confirmation on the birds - I thought it was just young stone chats that had just fledged given the alarm calls from the adults so was really surprised when I looked at the photos.

I would agree with whitethroat and the second photo of a juvenile stonechat. Not sure if the first picture is a female stonechat. See what the others think...

Depending how you crop it, the questionable whitethroat comes up as Blackcap, Nightingale, Garden Warbler or Whitethroat in Google Lens, so that makes everything as clear as mud :D Glad you got your Chalkhills Cin :)
