Cheers SnappyMac. I thought they may have retreated to the woods with the heat but they settled in the long moorland undergrowth instead. I probably should have joined them

Cheers PB. We have had a few 16 or more pointers over recent years to elevate them to the monarch status. None last year so hopefully we'll see one at least this year. Doesn't mean they rule the roost so to speak, we had a lovely big deer known as "Chip" to the deer watchers who did exceptionally well with his 10 points. Sadly got hit by a car two years or so I think... with red deer in the rut it's all about attitude I guess.

Young stags and red deer calves (fawns) this morning. The big boys were together on a hill where they can see you coming from way away. I chose to save the wear and tear on my legs and spend some time with the little spotted ones.

Cheers PB. Lovely morning up there and a shame the big boys were distant. Soon be separating themselves to start the rut. A month-ish to go before it starts although October here always seems to be the peak. It'll get busy no doubt as it is an attraction even though it's no joke to the stags.
