STRANGE HAPPENINGS

I have to admit I hadn't thought it through to that extent. Nothing worse than disgruntled poltergeist.

I visited Aunt and Uncle today and they were not happy bunnies. Apparently ,last Saturday morning Uncle walked to the village shop at least a mile from their home(bearing in mind he is 85) to purchase 2 pork pies for their lunch. There were put on the work top in the kitchen on his return home but come meal time they had disappeared. A table cloth also went missing but was returned yesterday but not the pies. In the nearly sixty years since the "happenings" first occurred that is the first time that food has been stolen from the kitchen although the odd item of fruit and veg has gone from elsewhere. Miffed hardly covers the disappointment of not getting their pork pie lunch but amused they're not.

I have to say, Jacksparrow, that I admire their fortitude in remaining for <60 years and putting up with this.

I didn't spot the teapot nor did I enquire as to it's whereabouts.
As to the veg disappearing the most recent was one of a pair of marrows he had cut and put in an outside building to keep cool. The "happenings" do also manifest themselves in the greenhouse which is about 25 yards from the house but I can offer no specific reports of veg going missing from there although plenty of tools have.

A 3ft branch hook with the nut cage on was missing this morning - I was dumbfounded - looked everywhere. The branch hadn't broken but if it had everything would have fallen into the garden. Although I didn't think it possible, I went down the road and round the corner to see if it was on the grass outside the fence - it was no damage to it - wondering if someone stepped onto the wall under the fence, where you can get a toehold and lifted it off ... but it's not usually jolly jape night on a Sunday during term time so I find it a bit unnerving.

I can't see how an animal could have done it

I have to stand on tiptoe to reach the bottom of the nut basket.

Thats a mystery Nuthatch but I do like your arrangement of holders for your feeders. some great ideas there.

The only animal I can think of that could have done this is a Badger. They can climb and are well capable of carting the prize off. Other than that it's Ooman beanz innit!
