Had a tel call this morning: "Been trying to get in touch with you (no, they haven't). Your Internet Service Provider will be cut off within 24 - 48 hours ..."
I hung up at that point but checked the initial telephone code - it's Bermuda  !!

They rang again about an hour later - same lady's voice but a slightly different message leading up to the same "ISP will cut you off".
Hung up again. No more calls.

They're persistent I'll grant them that. The Internet scam in it's various forms has been going on for ages it seems. I had a different one last week when they tried to persuade me they were BT wanting to test my lines and check the speeds. I was too busy and hung up.

Was it a real human, Jacksparrow ? Did they actually engage you in conversation ? Leads one to think that it must have been an inland call.

A real human with a real far eastern accent. BT do use Indian people in their call centres but they are never pro-active. If you have a problem you ring them not t'other road about. :)

A variation on the "Cut off your Internet Connection" 'phone call yesterday - this one (twice) was "We are taking £xxx from your Amazon Prime account".
Haven't got an Amazon Prime account so reported it (with the telephone number, which looked like rubbish to me,) to Amazon's online scam facility.
If you get one of these, whatever you do DON'T PRESS "1" - just hang up and report it to Amazon.

My Uncle had two such call on Tuesday. He doesn't even have a computer never mind an Amazon account. He has been known to waste the time of such callers but he wasn't in the mood to play.

They must do a blanket exercise 'cos there's always an idiot.
Once folk are clued up though it's never going to work. They must just work on quantity.

My BT phone "Nuisance Call Blocker " has been fulfilling it's remit in the last 48 hours. 3 from the Indian sub-continent and one from Brazil I discovered. I suspect the Indian ones are the Amazon scam but I don't know for sure. :shake:
