In accordance with many country dialects they had special names for the wildlife and in particular the birds they saw. To make things a little easier the answers are multiple choice. The aim is to match the right bird with the old country name,

These abstruse very localised country names are very interesting, Jacksparrow. Difficult to see the connection but there you go. Corrupted Anglo-Saxon maybe.

I agree they are very difficult. I think they were in use in the area of the Cotswolds that includes Cirencester and Stroud. I am originally from north Gloucestershire and all birds were called by the names we recognise today.
