......Andy's hangover befuddled fingers were struggling with even the simplest task and he asked daughter Emma to give hime hand. Up until that point she was barely aware of her dad's presence as her mind was fully concentrated on her tablet and some computer game and the interruption was not welcomed but to her credit and along with a big sigh agreed to do Andy's bidding. The envelope was opened and out tumbled a whole sheaf of papers on sight of which Any said "who's sending me all this bumf for goodness sake?" At this point Anna chimed in saying "I expect some old millionaire has remembered you in his will and we're all going to be rich beyond our wildest dreams" Andy said nothing but thought "if that's supposed to be some kind of joke I'm not getting it" He thrust the papers in Anna's direction and said "you read them as I can't be bothered" and then stumbled off in the direction of the bathroom.
Anna picked up the envelope and suddenly noticed it was addressed to Mrs.A Royd and not Mr. She was the intended recipient ................

....which came as a big surprise as usually her personal mail was just the credit card bill and a couple of birthday cards once a year. A quick look at the letterhead revealed that all the paperwork was from a solicitors in the Newcastle area who called themselves Ganning,Ferbroak & Partners. Anna had been born in the north east of the country but went to school in the south east and had lived there ever since so why she had been contacted and how they had traced her was to say the least very disconcerting. Just as Anna began to read her attention was demanded by Emma and Aster asking when they were going shopping like they'd been promised. Anna wanted to say "later on" but could tell that she wouldn't get the chance to settle until the promised trip had been taken. Just then............

......Andy returned from the bathroom completely unaware that the newly arrived mail was not for himself. Anna and the girls by this time were donning their outside attire and were heading for the front door. With a cheery "see you later" they were gone leaving Andy to his hangover and a very strong black coffee. He looked towards the morning paper and then the brown envelope trying to decide which of them he could cope with in his current state. The brown envelope won but only because it required the least effort to reach. He started reading but it was making no sense. He'd never been to his wife's part of the UK and none of the names he was reading rang any bells. He rapidly came to the conclusion that it was junk mail and of no consequence to himself or his family. Just then the phone rang.............
