ROBINS
Re: ROBINS
Wow, standing room only at Squirrel's Place
!!
Not only illegal to cut trees 'n' shrubs because of nesting but also it's the incorrect time of year to trim - unless you don't like the particular shrub !! When the sap's up, it's a bad move.

Re: ROBINS
Well done Squirrel
. I would be wary of anyone appearing out of the blue offering to do garden work. Almost certainly itinerants
Re: ROBINS
Thank you, I have been bitten once before by some people butchering my fir tree in the front garden many years ago. They cut all the branches off on the road side and left the bare trunk visible, and then pushed all the cut off bits back into the tree so it looked neat and fine. I didn't notice a problem until the cut off branches all started to die off - too late then, the men were long gone!!!

Re: ROBINS
Yesterday OH was sitting on the grass about 18" from a young robin - still a bit fluffy - it closed its eyes and seemingly slept for a few minutes before flying away

Re: ROBINS
Rambo's gaily painted little handcart is in full use again
.
Since yesterday we have both reverted to the harassed and panic-stricken mode

Re: ROBINS
After a protracted, lonely, silent hiatus, this morning who should zoom to the patio wall upon my first emergence but my old mate, Rambo
!!
I reckon we're expecting a third happy event so out with the mealies and the knitting needles.
I recall that about maybe 6 years ago I was permitted to assist in an August third brood. That would have been Rambo's g-g-g-g grandrobin whose name now regrettably and inexcusably eludes me for the moment .......
