I was blessed with a visit from a very young hog last night. It snuffled around just like the grown-ups seemingly finding a meal from under the bird's seed feeders.

The young hog returned last hight. I had supplied a little cache of Hog food away from the main bowl which it quickly located and dined on. Unfortunately for it a fully grown Hog rocked up and wanted to share. There was heavy breathing but no rough stuff. I dropped some more food in the vicinity which was gone this morning so I assume all went well.

I had a Hog searching for food in the garden at about 6.30 this evening. It is often said that if you see a Hog in daylight it is in trouble. This one looked happy enough so I left it to carry on. I don't usually put any food out for them until nearly dusk but the rain had brought out some of the normal diet which I think it had found. :hedgehog:

The Wildlife Hospital phoned me to day to say "my" Hog is ready to be reintroduced to the wild. I will be collecting him on Monday evening just before sundown to do just that. :hedgehog:

Final update. The Hog was returned to the wild last night. A big vote of thanks to Vale Wildlife Hospital for all their hard work nursing him back to health. They said he weighed just 400 grams on admittance and 800 grams at discharge. :hedgehog:
