Just a longshot, perhaps while underwater the sound of the rain hitting the pond may be quite deafening to them.

That has been one of my theories. It doesn't have to be heavy rain to make them do it and doesn't explain why they are ready to go so far from the pond.
I did wonder if they knew that rain encouraged slugs, snails and worms to appear so they could get a meal. :shrug:

A busy day in the ponds today. I counted 17 frogs at one stage. I think there is still some more spawn to come.

That is a lot of frogs, fingers crossed for more spawn.

Spawning is over for another year. Hardly any frogs to be seen now. Fingers are crossed hoping for a good batch of tadpoles.

Frogs have started to arrive for spawning. Only a couple at present but if this mild weather continues it will ramp up quickly. :frog: :frog: :love:
