WHAT'S GROWING IN YOUR GARDEN ??
Re: WHAT'S GROWING IN YOUR GARDEN ??
First hawkweed is flowering
. Not in the tub, in the lawn
. Grateful for what I can get really
.
And: a snapdragon
. A weedy little thing, growing in a discarded plantpot which is only half full of soil. Prezz from the birds, I think
. Aaaanyway, it will be reddish when the buds (4) pop, so that's nice

I noticed my Hawkweed is showing it's head today. A nice drop of rain might tempt it to burst into flower
Re: WHAT'S GROWING IN YOUR GARDEN ??
The Men came toady and, in the rain, chopped off the head of my hawkweed
.

Garden up the next street full of them, mainly yellow, only a few orange ones.
Re: WHAT'S GROWING IN YOUR GARDEN ??
Hmmmmmm, I think the yellow lacks the impact of the lovely orange colour, but each to their taste.
Just read that it's a problem in the USA.

We had an American member very briefly once upon a time. They could have told us how much of a problem. The self seeding ability of the Hawkweed is quite impressive but so far they have not been a problem to the chateau gardener.

Re: WHAT'S GROWING IN YOUR GARDEN ??
While I was being ably assisted by Mrs JS in the garden this afternoon I heard her say "Mistletoe". "Eh?" I thought it being six months before Chrimbo. Come and look at this she beckoned directing my gaze into the upper boughs of our Rowan . Sure enough there it was a baby Mistletoe
I had no idea that Rowans were a likely host for the parasite.
