STARLINGS
Re: STARLINGS
Old Sturk update:
Still around complete with the two carers in attendance!!! Managed to get a photo of the three of them today, albeit in two photos.
The first photo is Old Sturk and one lookout on the ivy. The second photo is directly opposite the ivy which also shows my newly built all weather feeder that has been appreciated for providing dry food and shelter during some of the down pours we have had here. The second lookout is in the feeder.

Re: STARLINGS
It is quite touching that the youngsturks are hanging around. I wonder if there are any documented cases featuring similar behaviour.
Re: STARLINGS
Can't find any relating to Sturklings Jacksparra , but plenty of cases of animals coming to the assistance of their own and others, including humans. Also lots of species that have great family care systems. I think we still have a lot to learn (in more ways than one) about wildlife social behaviour.

Small group of starlings came into garden today. First ones I have seen for 10-12 weeks.

Not quite so long for me Willpar but two appeared on the bird table today, gobbled a load of sultanas and promptly flew off again.Willpar wrote:Small group of starlings came into garden today. First ones I have seen for 10-12 weeks.

Informative and fascinating Willpar. Thanks for this. I have always believed that there is an issue with the correct disposal of medicine. Too many flush them down the loo without considering the environmental impact. Nice to see that Autumn Watch are covering it.
