We get 1 or 2 at a time but the current one is a real bully and chases off anything else in the garden, including the bigger pigeons. Has anyone else seen this ?

Lovely surprise this morning - a pair of collies . Long time no see. Very wary though which is a shame. Stayed for a couple of minutes for breakfast.

I am lucky enough to have a continual presence of Collie Doves. Sometimes as many as five most often a pair. :)

I'm surprised to hear that a collared dove can be aggressive Mike_k  . There are a couple of them that come to my garden and they are the gentlest birds around :) . I try to discourage feral pigeons coming to feed (which is proving to be a problem :grumpy: ) but I happily let collies have a meal when they are around, really lovely birds :D

Ok, I have to take that back. There is these 2 collared doves in my garden lately visiting every day, always together, really sweet :)
I think they are fledglings because they look quite small and they still don't have the "collar" on their necks. Last few days there has been quite a commotion because these other 2, bigger doves came along and started to bully the smaller ones :( . They don't let them eat and they keep chasing them off. Just today, I saw one of the fledglings limping :cry3: .

Haven't had any Collared Doves onto the feeders since the Sparrowhawk struck.

Rather mysteriously about two thirds of my Colly Doves have disappeared. Earlier this year I was getting at least six every day but this has dwindled to two and they don't come all the time. I know the are susceptible to Tricho like the Greenfinch but I haven't seen any poorly ones.

This gorgeous thing is the latest addition to my garden visitors, a juvenile Collared Dove, fledged not long ago by the looks of it :flying:
It made me laugh to see it earlier chasing off a much larger pigeon from its food spot :fence:
