Wasp

Post by Willpar »

Found this nest in the lanes. Not the common wasp we see this time of year, and they are smaller than ours. A quick search and the nearest I got was "German Wasp"
Anyways Gave me quite a buzz finding it, no stinging comments please.

Very interesting Willpar. They certainly look different to the usual Wasp.

How fascinating. Rebuilding, I s'pose - the nest will be bigger and better than ever.

I go by that way most days nuthatch, so will be interesting to see how it goes. That's unless the badger comes back for more.

Not good news on the wasp nest. The badger did return.

I must say they seemed quite docile for wasp.

Couldn't have blamed them if they'd been fighting mad by now.
What a shame - but they don't show any signs of moving so presumably they're planning on rebuilding. Not a sound plan if the badger takes it into his head to return again.
Very interesting, Willpar.

Mmmm :( I must admit I didn't realise badgers went after wasps' nests.

Yes, be interesting to see how long this endeavour and destruction goes on ...

Talking to a couple who were there when I took the video, they have been watching the nest for a while. But the bloke reckons the queen is still there somewhere, or the workers would have left. So they must be guarding the queen.

Another update on the wasp nest. They have done some rebuilding, as can been seen in the video. Looks rather alien now.
