Have always thought that the "chasing arrows triangle" on plastic trays and polystyrene etc. just meant that item could be recycled - RONG !!!! .
Quite fascinating when I googled it: the number associated with the triangle refers to differing types of plastic - polystyrene, polycarb, pvc, and is not an sign that anything can automatically be recycled. Quite the reverse in most cases actually.
Most Councils aren't good at recycling plastic unfortunately and it ends up in landfill . Shame.
One day maybe .......

Plymouth has a new waste to energy plant. So i reckon a lot of plastic will go there.

Something will have to happen soon as we cannot keep on chucking waste into big holes in the ground forever. In my area that option is rapidly coming to an end and 2020 will see the end of it. No-one wants an incinerator in their area but with all the current regulations about waste disposal I'm not seeing any viable alternatives.

Plymouth `s last landfill is now closed, has been for a few years. Now the rubbish is burned, and the ash will be going to the building industry.

I can remember when the rubbish was burned (if it ain't broke ...)
