Site Finances

We've had a couple of people asking about how they can contribute to the cost of the site so we thought we'd just explain how we've set it up.
There is no obligation to donate. If you feel like you want to then the Team will be very grateful whatever the amount, but it is not compulsory, donations are not made public and all of the money is solely used to run the site.
Obviously the site address and the hosting have to be paid for. Luckily, these things are not terribly expensive for a site this size. The domain name is around £10 for 2 years at a time and the hosting is £30 a year (we can reduce this a little by buying 2 years hosting at a time).
As this year has already been paid for, next years expense will be £30 (assuming the hosting price stays the same), then the year after will require the renewal of the domain and the hosting as well (about £40-45), and the year after will be £30 again. So the costs are relatively low and will alternate in amounts depending on whether the address needs renewing.
We have set up a paypal account to pay for the expenses. This is not linked to the bank account of anyone. It is solely a repository for donations to pay for the site.
As I set everything up, I paid the first year and the donations will cover subsequent renewals.
If you wish to contribute, please PM a team member and we'll send you the account address.
So, what happens if we get no donations at all? Nothing. The site will keep going as usual. The Team will cover the costs between us as it's a fairly nominal amount each. If the account runs dry we might post a friendly little reminder in a couple of years to help us out though.
Finally, once again, we, the Team, would like to reiterate that there is no obligation to make a donation but if you do wish to do so it will be gratefully received and the amount is entirely up to you. Even £1 will help us out and keep your site running.
