A return visit, as mooted, with a wider array of butterflies, and some other stuff. Worth having a bit of a zoom in on some of them (even if I do say so myself!!)

There are quite a lot, so settle in with a cuppa and enjoy my sunshiney day!

Looks like you picked the right day PB, a great collection of photo's. I have never seen a white admiral, a great looking butterfly. I am still looking for spotted flycatchers, thought I had cracked it earlier in the week but turned out to be a family of blackcaps. Flying out of the tree, grabbing an insect and returning...

So much to enjoy The close ups of the White Admiral were outstanding.

Thanks Snappy. Don't you just hate it when birds do their impressions... stonechats on gorse bushes where Dartford Warblers are, blue tits high up, upside down when you can hear Goldcrests etc etc!!
I hadn't even heard of White Admirals until 2 years ago, I got some pics the first year, but last year there was only one, half out of focus, behind a leaf!!

Thanks Jack, I was very grateful it came and settled no more than 10 feet away, and loitered for a while

That is much appreciated - I head back to the rock on Tuesday but no chance of a side shimmy to Martin Down or AG so Portsdown Hill and a search for Small Blues will have to do tomorrow
