Garden Wildlife UK

An early morning trip to Badbury Rings, to try and snap some butterflies before the warmth kicked in too much. I was a bit concerned, as it was misty at home when I left at 06:45, and in the next village along it got so dark my auto headlights came on. However, barely 10 minutes later the mist had burned off, leaving a glorious sunny morning, and with the blue sky and the green grass, the auburn hues of Rosie the Vizla (aka Slobbermeister) were stunning!

Looks like a grand day6 out PB. Great set of pics.

Looks like the early start worked out well PB. I see pictures of butterflies with dew on, always think that would be good to do. Another great set of photo's.

Thanks Snappy, my sister is still hoping for a dew-y marbled white, they're not about here yet though, but shouldn't be long before they start emerging. The early start was good, because it would have been too hot for Rosie if we were much later, plus the butterflies would have been even more mobile than they were! It also meant I was home by 10 to wait hand and foot on Mrs PB

Jeezo...that was a lot of sightings! My granny Wendy (Bartter) is still doing good btw!
That corn bunting is a cracking wee bird. Thanks for sharing all yer wee beasties and the big beast

Fab-u-louse,I put the beetle photos through Obsidentify - on the first one it offered Stictoleptura rubra - Red Longhorn Beetle but on the rest it gave Orchid beetle so going on averages I would agree with you ;)
Small Eggars have different stages in the Laval nest

There would have been more sightings if the big beast didn't insist on investigating everywhere mine and sisters lenses were pointed

Thanks Caroline, I did pop one of the pics through to Butterfly Conservation, and they suggested the darker cat was probably 3rd instar, and hairy 5th.
