Garden Wildlife UK

So a lovely sunny morning, and Mrs PB and I decided on bacon rolls followed by a little jolly to the artisan market in Sherborne... you know artisan markets... where the tat is sold for a higher price than at normal markets Despite my cynicism we had a nice stroll round, and there was some nice stuff there!
When we got home, I dropped a little bird food out, and settled in the garden to have a coffee and a watch for visitors. At least 5 Holly Blue's flew over, but eventually a pair dropped in, and I managed a snap or two... them and some other bits and bobs follow... hope you enjoy

Nowadays the humble Holly Blue is the most common butterfly in my garden. If the sun is shining they're on the wing. Well done PB for getting a photo of a pair settled in one place.

You did well PB. The Holly Blue is probably the most common butterfly to settle in our garden. That said, I haven't seen any yet...

Great ones PB, not seen any Holly blues yet.

Thanks Jack, it was a bit awkward trying to get an angle for a shot as I think they wanted some "private time" and insisted on being towards the middle of the tree.... I ended up entangled in the magnolia trying to peer round leaves lol

Thanks Snappy. I think this is the first year I've seen them actually land in the garden, and I think it was only because they were a bit amorous!
