Short Trip to Alner's Gorse

So following 3 belting days, weather-wise, I decided a a butterfly trip after work might be a good idea. It certainly increased the species seen, but the photo opportunities were limited.
I saw several Orange Tips and Brimstones, but none settled, half a dozen or more pristine Speckled Wood, a blurry Small Tortoiseshell (or perhaps it's just the photo that's blurry  ) and another few big whites, which may have been Brimstones, but I can't be sure. There was plenty of birdsong too, with Chaffinches and Tits along with Robin, Wren and Thrushes.
No need for refreshments for these few pics!!

The one that could be a Small Tortoiseshell could be a Comma.

Like I said, it was blurry :D I think the white patches at the front of the wing make it more likely tortoiseshell, but I wouldn't place a wager on it!

Wing shape could be odd angle, or having been in the wars :D

No snacks :( Sounds like a nice trip PB even without the volume of photos. I like your speckled wood :photo:
