Well it wasn't a game of where's wally it was a game of where's the green Woodpecker and I found it :haha: Delighted to finally add to my list I don't have

No hunners of pics ,this it thee one and only half clear shot I got
Arrived about 9.30 and heard it call almost immediately about 5 times then silence, walked around for couple of hours through marsh land and streams and god knows what else, a few falls and a wellie stuck in the mud (not me for a change but I was sore with laughter) ended up back where we started and it called again and we finally got eyes on it. Another successful day in the bag

Great spot Linda, and a great pic. When I see them it is usually on the ground.

Wow, well done Linda. I've only seen them a few times, twice at Arne about a mile away and once at Slimbidge. Always great to spot a newbie.... And to manage a reference to Chesney Hawkes... Genius 🤣

Thanks William, was no chance of spotting it if it was on the ground as it was a Xmas tree forest and marshland everywhere

They're known as a Yaffle around my way. You have to be lucky to see one but I have managed it quite a few time without yomping through forest and bog. A peekaboo shot is better than nothing at all. Well done Linda for your tenacity and photo skills.

Did you never watch Bagpus, Linda? "Professor Yaffle, the carved wooden bookend in the shape of a woodpecker" was part of the intro.... or am I that much older than you? (don't answer that lol)
