Bogside, Richmond Park and Ross Hall Gardens

So today's outing was a bit of a mish-mash, set off 1st thing down to Irvine in the middle of a golfcourse for these guys
Then it was to Rosshall gardens in Glasgow as meant to be a kingfisher but ended up with a swimming rat instead and then on to Richmond Park on way home for another elusive kingfisher but no luck. Here's what I did see

I have only ever seen one crossbill Linda, nice photo's. A very good days birding, excluding ratty

Never seen Crossbill, lovely photo's, and then the light got better for the water birds, wonderful!

Thanks SM, I had only ever sen one crossbill aswell until yesterday. Never seen a rat swing either!

Well you better get out there PB and find them!! Yeah the weather improved as moved closer to Glasgow

Apparently we have some in Wareham Forest, adjacent ish to Arne, and at the mo Glossy Ibis and Cattle Egret at Wareham Common, also adjacent ish. Might have to have a nosey once I don't need a canoe ( another yellow rain warning today and tomorrow I think
)

Who knew Crossbills came down for a drink of water? Not me! They're usually denizens of the tree tops chomping on a fir cone. Lovely photos.

Funny, the only one I have seen was drinking water at the RSPB Sandy. It was years back when they had a hide. They have crossbills on site at the moment, I have not managed to see them though
)
