Pitfalls of carrying a camera.

Carrying a camera around the countryside does have its pitfalls. Today I was looking over a farmgate at the view, often stop there on that walk. A man was walking his dog, or was it a ruse, and ask if he could help me. With what did not have a clue, but knew what he was driving at. Even asked me if I had a camera. So must have seen me in the other lane walking past his house. He owns the field as his wife told me back along. He was standing well back and could hardly hear him. He was pleasant enough which makes a change, and my parting shot was don't be too worried as I was not casing the place for a burglary.
This is the fourth encounter over a couple of years or so. The first being a farmer, and again just looking at the view. Never liked his attitude so he got short shrift. A lady of a bungalow all but accused me of casing the place, and already made up her mind that I was up to no good before she even spoke. In fact they all probably thought the same. So gave her back as good as she gave. The last being two adults hiking or whatever with a bunch of kids. Just got to the place and sat down on some steps. I did that often on that walk. Put my camera on the ground. One of the adults says to me, are you taking a video of these children, boy, was I mad with that one. I had just got there and never even knew they were walking the lane as could not see from the field.
This is the countryside where meeting people does not happen that often. Has not put me off but has made me aware that some people are quite suspicious of people carrying a camera. The countryside I walk often.
