Over the past three weeks my computer has fixed drive "C" four times. Can take for ages to do it. This morning it had to fix it again but only took half an hour. The busy light keeps trundling around. at the best of times. Is my computer on the way out?

It sounds as though something is serving notice Willpar. Perhaps Kev will be able to shed some light on your problem. In the mean time I'd start checking out the prices of a likely replacement as it my be cheaper than a fix.

Thank you JS, have been thinking the same. In about six or seven days time the computer will fix drive "C" again. Have been looking around at new ones, as i use a desktop all in one with a 23" screen and is 4k. The ones i have looked at are not much to shout about. I did find two which is the same make i have which is Asus. But are not on sale here in the UK yet. Brand new build for windows 11.

Yeah not a good sign when things like that start happening unfortunately.
You could back the whole drive up and see if a local company can install a new HDD, then just restore everything back again, but often with computers it's easier just to go all in on a new one and future proof as much as you can with the spec.

Thank you Kev. Did look up new drives and to be honest it was way above me. So will go down the route of a new one with bang up to date new specs.

Drive "C" has not been fixed for around thee weeks now. Yesterday it did a huge update on windows 10. But this morning i have noticed that drive "C" has gone into the red. Only 12 and a bit GB free space left. Before this was over 50Gb free space. Plus if i look in updated there is a warning saying this computer does not support windows 11. Has me wondering if for some reason it has been downloading 11 updates. So what i am going to do now is try and restore windows 10 to a previous version and it will save my files. Something has gone wrong somewhere and it could lead back to updates.

Well i done a system restore point but is seems that it never worked as the drive is still showing almost full. So this computer by the looks of it is almost whacked. Went back to June 1st on restore point, that was well before i started having problems. The only other option seems to be a recovery to a previous version of windows 10. But if the drive is on its way out i don`t see how this can help.

I took delivery of a new computer yesterday, but it is a laptop. All setup and working ok.Has a 16" screen which is oled and 4k resolution. Has a 64 gb of ram and 2tb of hard drive. Pity i could not get a desktop with the same specs. And has windows 11 pro. The oled screen is fantastic, i played a video of mine and the colour is just great. Small screen to get used to am spoilt with a 23" screen on my desktop. Hopefully a desktop will come along, but i fear a longish wait.

You might be able to send the video output from the laptop to the old screen. Then you can use a cheap bluetooth keyboard and mouse and that way you have the bigger screen if you want to sit down with it but you can take the laptop away if you want to work elsewhere.

Hi Kev, as it is the laptop i got is the same make as my desktop which is Asus. So the mouse and keyboard works with the laptop. Just have to switch out the little transmitter at the back.. Something i found out today, i fired up the laptop while the desktop was on. Realizing my mistake i switched the desktop off and the laptop went off as well. That is what seemed to have happened.
But i have found a solution, am going to get a monitor. Have looked at the ones from asus and got my eye on a 21.6" one that has an oled panel. Will cost a few bob but better get what i want before the gas and electric start to take their cut.
