Yesterday our road was converted from the old orange street lighting to new white led low energy 'lanterns' (). This switch has the following advantages:
- Improves the quality of street lighting
- Helps to make the area safer
- Reduces pollution
- Uses less energy (50% compared with trad. street lights)

Couldn't wait for it to get dark to see the transformation :tampoline:but had forgotten the full moon - see above.
The whole place was bathed in megawatts ! So, will have to wait for the lunar show to calm down somewhat before judging the impact of the new lights.

One advantage was that I saw a fox standing on the front lawn. I think the poor thing was dazzled.

Our street was done a while back. Had the orange fog lights as well Placi. People complained that the streets were darker in other places where lights were change. The council say that the light is focused downwards so less sky pollution.. But my street is darker, so better for hedgehogs.

So. My post-person rang the bell today, bearing a parcel too large to cram through the letterbox.
After a little banter he said he should retire at the end of this month but was considering staying on to the end of the year. I made the mistake of asking why and he explained that if he does he'll qualify for 50 postage stamps .
I thought he was joking but it seems he wasn't.
We both fell about anyway .

Do Posties have the equivalent of the Green Shield Stamp book and if they fill it up they get to jump the queue on Pension Day. :)

I'm single-handedly Saving The Planet, of course .
It matches my socks, kitchen towels and a bag of beansprouts.
