Someone will put up spikes to keep away the dolphins .

I am a little puzzled by the spikes story as the best you can hope to achieve in a tree is to cover the very biggest branches leaving the remainder for Walter and friends. Whilst I agree it is denying the birds natural perches but they are far from being denied somewhere to go. I expect they are more attracted by the warmth from the buildings than anything else. Birds have been pooping on humans since they first came into contact and a few spikes is not going to change that.

I learned a new word toady - "conversate" !!!!!
As in, "My buddy and I were conversating".

So I googlated it and, to my amazemate, it is extant, mate .

Can't agree that AAVE is "it's own distinct language" which happens to look a little like English. I prefer the 'Creole' reasoning; that makes sense.
The similarity of the missing verb to, particularly, Russian was most interesting. I hadn't made that link previously. Don't think there's a reason for that though, it's a similarity.
Same thing goes for the lack of the definite and indefinite article in a sentence, which English speakers find odd and can lead to misunderstanding or at least confusion. As in the diffy between "a table" and "the table" which the Russians seem to handle with no confusion at all .

I have two: an old one and a new-ish one. The old one is by far the most popular in that it's been used once in 7 (?) years and I saw a bluey go in this week. The new one, maybe 4 years old, has never attracted the slightest interest but it's early days yet .
One likes to fondly imagine that one is making a diffy .

A rent reduction ?!?!?! I'm saving up for a helipad disguised as a croquet lawn .

Noticed today that the entry/exit to the newest of the 2 boxes has a lump of dead web hanging from it. Something has gone in and come out !!
Could use the revenue boost ......
