Why ??????? What's the matter with ivy growing on the back of a row of garages ???????
If it's any comfort, Jacksparrow, the same thing happened to me (and mine !!) 7 years ago. It's hard to adjust and I felt angry, but the birds get used to it somehow. Ivy regrows quickly and I just hope that "weed"killer doesn't make an appearance.

Got a bunch of 20 British tightly budded daffodils at the Farm Shop for £1 this morning. 3 have already popped

I have been told the there is very little that will kill Ivy should they resort to chemical warfare. I think Mrs JS became more agitated than I did and I thought she was going to say "go and stand between the Ivy and the chainsaws to halt the process" such was her dismay.

"Go and stand ..... etc." seems quite reasonable a moi - particularly given the heroic (if elderly) stance you demonstrate in your avatar.

So frustrating to see habitat being removed without a thought for the overall impact on wildlife . I was tempted to remove the ivy growing over from next door, but when I saw how much wildlife it supports, I decided to leave it alone . I'll send a squadron of Sturks over Jacksparra to poo on their heads!!

I have a technical question for the foodies amongst you all. You'll all of heard of a loin of beef or a loin of pork but at present my local branch of Iceland are advertising Loins of Cod. My question is what part of a cod can be described as being it's loins?

The loin of the cod is the largest (and therefore most succulent) part of the fillet. It's quite common on a good day.

D'you want to talk about cod cheeks ??
