Hi Linda! I observed the courtship of two magpies on my balcony rail, bird bath and berry vine pergola which actually mated there. So sexing them was 100% accurate after that.


'Maggie' is on the left. The male is to the right and has a thicker chest, larger black 'bib' and weighs more.

Hmmm perhaps the tiny specs are actually on your specs PB
Little grebes are always a pleasure to watch ...geese were heading doon the park so probably laughing at me

Thanks Charles, several little grebes around but could be the same ones. The bird in question is a chiffchaff
