Interesting info about the Harris' Hawk, Willpar

I don't know whether it's odd but we've never had feral pigeons in the garden - maybe there's enough food for them not far away in the town centre Hope this continues

We're off to the New Forest ( again ) on Saturday. Near to Fordingbridge. If I can get access to wi-fi I'll post some photos from there

I was watching the Pointless program on Beeb ! this evening and was appalled at the contestants lack of knowledge and ability to name common garden birds. Asked to name any bird from a choice of 15 pictures most were hopeless. Only 3 out of the 8 contestants could name one of the birds with any degree of certainty. A couple of others guessed and were lucky. One of our most common birds the blackbird went un-recognised. You may get the impression that the contestants were thickos but on other questions they showed reasonable knowledge but it seems none had ever bothered looking out the window and wondering what those feathery things were flitting about the garden.

They might have lived much of their lives in high rise buildings ... I don't know how likely that is and when they have come across birds, have thought, "Oh, birds ... "

I've just watched this on CatchUp and was just as appalled as wot Jacksparrow woz. It's even worse than he reported. Only 24% of what appears to be a random number of people correctly guessed a Wren and only 50% know what a Pheasant (m) is.
Who the folk are who are doing the guessing I have no idea but crikurk !!!

One of the contestants then guessed a "bluebird" because she'd seen one in a film !!
