Soopy-doopy as usual, Willpar  :photo:.
Loved the bumbly among the mahonia flowers and then the unexpected cowslip.

Hi placi, had to look up mahonia. A nice flower an have never heard of it before. Actually it id my Berberis hedge on the small plot flowering very nicely. Was glad to get the bee. Is one of those large bumble bees. Been trying to video them for a week or so, but they never stay still. And the sun is bringing out the butterflies.

I have a free mahonia. It's right by the back fence so that's a sign that the birds brought it as a 'thank you' !!
Am seeing bumblies now but not yet a butterfly, not a single one :(.
Quality vid, Willpar

The early big Bumbles are usually young queens just establishing their nest and starting a colony. The one in the video is a buff tailed Bumble.

A common mistake but Placi has confused the Small Brown Flitter with the much rarer Large Brown Flitter(aka Painted Lady)
Well done willpar an impressive number of different butterfly species for so early in the year. I'm thinking the baby Blackie had fallen out of a nearby nest.

Thought it may have been a painted lady but was not sure. The baby blackie was over the village, could not pass up on the chance to video it. Could fly but only a couple of yards. Hopefully will make it, don't see any cats around over there. But then it is not only cats.
