I managed to get on the site last evening and made one post before the spinning thingy drove me crackers. Good to be back to normal service.

I kid you not - I dunno how you sussed that, Nuthatch but maybe it's only a coincidence ... I printed off the fixture list this morning and spent a happy half hour blutac-ing it to the door of a kitchen cupboard.

Ahem ..... pyjama cricket began in 1979 when Kerry Packer - and his Australian Channel 9, and his millions - exploded onto the scene, poached the then England captain, Tony Greig (booooooh), among others, and things ain't bin the same since. Money has wrecked the spirit of cricket as is the case with most other sports, but cricket used to be Special. The old saying, "That's just not cricket" embodied what I mean but sadly it no longer appertains.
Now all one-day International, and indeed inter-county, matches are played in silly, colourful garb
. The reasoning is that the plebs prefer it that way - a matter of opinion ....... . Actually, there is no cogent reason whatsoever for colours - it's quite easy to tell whether your side has two people out on the field holding bats or not ; thus it is simple to deduce who is fielding and who is batting !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! gggrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Whites and the red ball are utilised in 5-day Test matches and proper County Championship games
