A colleague and I were talking about it. He then turned to me and said "It says it's at 9, is that the morning or the ..............." as I burst out laughing at him.

It just went as though the weather had turned a little bit cloudy; the birds didn't stop singing.
The TV image up in The Faroes was good though.

There was a TV camera in Plymouth. Seems those were about the best pics. I did have a quick look at it.

I took pictures for almost the full 2 hours. I'll process them tonight. They look ok though.
I was out on a piece of grass at the hospital where I work with a friend from the lab next door who had a telescope. Was good fun. Lots of people stopped to look at what we'd got. Several took photos of the screen on the back of my camera with the eclipse on it!

It was nothing like last time here but I think it was overcast then and a wind got up and swirled around a bit.

It was less light of course but the sun was shining all the time

There were loads of us out the front of our building - with our backs to the sun.
Because our windows are tinted ones, we could line ourselves up so that the sun was visible in the double glazing as a secondary image.
Then I worked out that it was actually better looking from inside and a whole lot warmer too.

We have a 17-year old lad in my team and this morning he actually asked"what is an eclipse". I sent him off to find some jaffa cakes
He then proceeded to say "that was shit" after seeing it !!

Oh dear well at least he may have learnt something ... was that the same one who asked whether it was 9 in the morning or the .... ?

No, the "9 when?" guy knew there was an eclipse coming. Mind you, I did tell the young lad about dragons eating the sun and the earth ending, so perhaps I hyped it up a bit

I only caught a fleeting glance of the eclipse at the time of biggest coverage due to cloud cover but about 10 mins later it cleared enough to get a better look. Although it got darker it was nowhere near as dark as 1999
