:wow: Willpar, that was a tour de force and no mistake .
A quite magnificent bird.
Apparently it flies all around Wimbles early in the morning and that's the end of the pigeons for hours and hours and then it does another tour and so on.
If I were a pigeon I'd stick to Trafalgar Square !!

Sure is a lovely bird Placi. I found the low down on the internet, and just copied and pasted it. But I do have the book.
You may want to re consider Trafalgar Square now, London has a good supply of Peregrines.

Feral pigeons have always been a visitor to my garden. The only variation is the numbers involved. About 5 or 6 years ago it was not unusual for there to be around 20 and they were becoming a nuisance. I heard a rumour that someone was trapping and killing them such was his frustration at their constant presence and their numbers slowly dwindled to todays between 5 and 8 so it may have been true(the rumour that is).

Good post Nutty
I'm always a sucker for a Ribble Viaduct photo. :) What was an Oystercatcher doing there? It looks completely out of place.

I don't know, Jacksparrow - there were two of them - I wondered what they were  I thought they were some type of tern.

It was great - we were staying 1 1/3 miles up a track from the road - just across from the viaduct :) so quiet - just birds and distant farm animals :sheep:

(The bottle and spoon birdfeeders were in a churchyard in Ingleton).
