Blashford Lakes 07/09/2026

I can't believe it's been about 18 months since I ventured to Blashford, but for the 2nd week running Mrs PB and myself decided on a mostly birdie day out... a later start this week, allowing time for Bacon Rolls before departure, and a later ending, allowing for a couple of pints when we got home

Most of the water-y birds are a bit distant, but the light was good, and hopefully the cropping isn't too bad! Stay tuned 'til almost the end for a creepy crawly I found on my neck, with a surprising lifestyle I discovered after looking it up!!

Great set PB. Was it the goat moth caterpillar? I assumed it was named after being found in a goatee beard

Brilliant selection PB . A very high standard but my favourite was the Grey Wagtail. I can't remember seeing a better photo of one.

Bloody hell that post should come with a warning to wear sunglasses with that blinding blue sky!!
Love the Egyptian Geese....another good outing PB with plenty to point the camera at....even the Buzzard seemed chilled

You may well cower behind a sofa for a joke like that Snappy! Not sure why it's called "Goat Moth", maybe discovered by a Mr Goat? but apparently it's Britain's heftiest moth, hence a big caterpillar too!!
