Mere Down Falconry 25/06/2026 part 2

Post by PimperneBloke »

The very last part of this fabulous day, until I try some different editing on some of the pics randomly :D

Hope you enjoy (and hope I've not managed to intermingle any shots into both posts!)

Looks like a great day - did you get to handle any of the birds or was it just photography? Do you know why some had trackers but others didn't?

It was a fab morning. The more skittish, and the younger birds had the trackers, there was a couple of diggers on the farm, digging out a load of chalk for some underground tank they were installing, and the noise distracted them. He showed the details on his phone when they were whizzing about, really good.
It was just a photography day, but he does different "experience" packages, some are flying, some are just the owls etc. He says he's got too old (72) to do the walks up over the valley he used to do with his dog, which me and Mrs PB did on our first visit there.

I know they are captive birds but it still great to see them doing what they are meant to do. Great photography.

Thanks Jack, some are "rescued", or taken on when previous owners can't cope, others he's raised from chicks, so they've imprinted on him, and a couple he rehabilitated, a good mix. And when he tells them off for misbehaving it's like he's talking to his kids lol
