Gaunless Flatts/ponds

Gaunless flats is an area which is very local to me, infact only 10 minutes walk from where I live. The gaunless flatts is an area that was heavily mined and the river gaunless runs through these flatts. The gauless is also fed by rivers and streams comes down the dales of the Pennines. When mining stopped the gaunless flatts was reclaimed by mother nature and it has some beautiful wildlife ponds left from the mining days. This is also a huge wetland area and I have taken some pictures of the 4 Mile circular route around the outskirts of the gaunless flatts.

It is a while since we had a member from the north east. It is good to see once heavily industrialised areas returned to nature and I'm sure you enjoy walking around the area.

I can watch birds for hours without getting bored and find it very relaxing..
