HEATWAVE 2018

Post by Placido »

This unprecedented wave of heat is by no means restricted to Europe. Just watched a Japanese snippet detailing their hot weather (22,000 requiring hospital treatment). The commentator mentioned that it's 40C+ in California !!, where most people who can are standing in the sea.

Don't live by the sea personally but it's a good idea .......

Forest fires in Sweden above! the Arctic Circle are fairly unusual .

Hardly any pasture here for the cows and sheep to graze. Farmers are using winter hay already.

The veggie growers of tomatoes and runner beans hereabouts have been saying what a poor yield they've had on both counts this year.
Even pot-grown veg, carefully and regularly watered, were the same. Would have thought that tomatoes would have loved it but seems not .

I have noticed fewer bees but many, many wasps this season (will be a good season next year for daddy-long-legs).

It was only yesterday I was thinking I hadn't seen one yet. :)
