Have a house sparrow currently roosting under the porch roof. It flew out at dusk but came back. So just went out with a small torch and found it.
Will you be charging rent?

Is back again tonight. Looks like it goes there quite often by the looks of the CCs. Nice and dry and out of the weather.

I'm surprised he still has it to himself.

Am just wondering if the exhaust from the combi boiler warms it up a bit. Though the flu is several feet away from where it roost.

Just being right by the house will make it a little warmer and if the windchill is reduced so much the better.

For no apparent reason my visiting Sparrow flock seems to have reduced in numbers

. There was a time not long ago when I reckoned there were about 20 to 30 but now I'm lucky to see 10 at one time. The ones that still come look healthy enough and I have seen no sign of sickness
Perhaps a near neighbour is feeding them better and I hope that is the reason rather than them dying off.

Will have to take a look at mine. Was also getting large numbers but have not taken much notice lately.

I have been as guilty as anyone of taking my Sparrow population for granted as they have been a constant presence for many years.
