FROGS

I had a good look around the garden today,the first since the last visit of the Beast from the East. Sadly I found five dead frogs. I'm assuming they vacated the ponds when the hard frosts came and froze while out of the water. There were no external signs of harm.

What a shame, Jacksparrow. Maybe the remainder stayed in the pond and went deep whilst The Beast was raging above ??

Hi. I'm new to the forum and very much a frog novice. Last year in my small garden I installed a frog habitat - a washing-up bowl full of water with plants and rocks. Very glad to say a frog has taken up permanent residence there. Only trouble is, he's quite large and the bowl is small, about 13" x 10", so not big enough for him to swim around much. He does seem very happy there though, spending most of his time underwater beneath the rocks and occasionally sticking his head out of the water, so just wondering if frogs do actually need to swim much. Also, just read that they spend a lot of time on land except during mating time, but have never even seen my resident leave the water. Anyone know if this is normal?

Hi Nuthatch. Have been spying on my frog all afternoon and each time he's been in a different part of the bowl. Most Active I've ever seen him!
