Another new one, Willpar !! Lovely news - another customer .

Sad news, found one of my juveniles dead out in the road this morning. Right outside my house. Looks like he went under a parked car that pulled away. Always cars parked outside here. Had my mark on it. What a terrible shame for its life to end that way. Been pulling out all the stops to get it to a decent weight for hibernation.

Very sorry to hear that, Willpar. There seems to be no explanation when things like that happen.

Today was a sit on the sofa and don't get up day.
I did, however, get up a few times to make a cup of tea.
On one of these strenuous trips, I looked out the window. In front of my house is a bit of scrubby land behind the fence of the house opposite, but next door to him, they access their back gate and a few cars park there. There was only one car and it looked like a young lad had dropped his armful of stuff and was awkwardly trying to pick it up. I didn't pay much attention until he walked past the gate and towards the scrub land. All of a sudden it clicked, he had a hedgehog, so I rushed out just as he was about to carefully place it in the long grass. I called him over and took it off him. He said he found it lying against the kerb and had picked it up in his fleece to put it "safe".
It seemed like there was nothing wrong with it, but its breathing in my hand felt not clear. I took it to my hedgehog lady and she couldn't see anything outwardly wrong with it. We estimated it to be about 500-600kg, so not a little one.
I told her his name is Lucky as it was blummin lucky that I went for a cup of tea at exactly the right time.

Can you remember the last time you had hogs visiting in January?

Was a while back jacksparrow. I used to get one wake up every few weeks or so and come to door feeder. Always kept that one topped up in winter. But that was a few years back.

Mine didn't seem to hibernate last winter

I have seen no sign of Hogs in my garden or anywhere hereabouts so I'm assuming they're taking the annual nap whether it is cold or not.
