I wonder how unseasonably cool or wet weather affects butterflies and moths, you know when they emerge from the cocoon and have to stretch out their wings perfectly and all that?
I'm often outside in the late evenings until around 1am, and haven't encountered any moths - there's usually a couple in the house or buzzing round the porch light, but the only ones I've seen are the pesky clothes moths. Anyone else?

I'm usually tucked up in bed well before 1 am. I have disturbed a few moths while tidying up the garden and we haven't had any in the house like in previous years. :shake:

Spotted today, three red admirals, three small coppers, a painted lady, and large whites, ringlets, not a bad haul.

Excellent day I would say. Still very meagre offerings in my area. :(

A bit of decent sunshine produced a couple of Large Whites, a couple of Small Whites and a Holly Blue.

Am seeing a few like that. Not a holly blue though. Another poor day for sightings.

Better day for sightings here. Three red admirals and four peacocks.

I have not been in the garden much in the last few days so I would not have seen any if they'd been about.

I had a Brimstone in the garden today. They are mostly a spring arrival but sometimes I get a few in high summer. :)
