The predator bird I saw was most likely a goshawk it was too large for a sparrow hawk.

Without seeing the bird in question it is impossible to say whether it is a Sparrowhawk or it's much rarer cousin the Goshawk. A mature female Sparrowhawk is a larger bird than the male and she has very similar plumage to the GH. The very well respected Collin's Bird Guide concedes that the two species are often mis-identified.

I hadn't seen a Robin in the garden for several weeks until today. It was a youngster still with it's brown freckled chest feathers but fully grown.

Not seen one in ages either. Though for me, seem to be a winter visitor.

I heard two Robins singing today. Time to re-establish territories for the coming winter I think.

The robin that comes in most days is getting quite used to me now, and will come quite close. Was out in the garden replenishing the hanging feeder when it shot out of the hedge. It landed on some dead plants so threw it some mini suet pellets. Never moved a muscle, so thought I know what it wants, so headed indoors to get some. Came back it with the mealworms and threw a few down on the ground. Was there in no time feasting, and no doubt feeling quite smug that it has me trained.

My resident Robin is not so forward. It makes it presence felt by flying around where I have been working and then sitting and watching my activities. Other than that it is quite shy and flies off even if I just say hello.

My Robin seems to have disappeared. He was flitting around in September and trilling his autumn song but has now gone quiet. I hope he has not been grabbed by either the Sprawk or one of the cats that drift through the garden.

I had one in September also. Not seen it in a while though.

My Robin was very vocal today, I think the mildish weather has got him thinking the spring has arrived already.
