Walking through a farmers field where the rapeseed had been harvested, there were hundreds of sparrows looking for seed that had dropped. Not seen that many for a long time.

Same here greenfinch. Not one starling today. All the food is still there. But plenty of sparrows.

Sparrows are back - more than ever before, I think.
Or maybe it's the bashed p'nuts which I've added to the general diet. Going down very well :yummy:

Good news Placi. Seeing as England won the cricket I'm surprised you can raise the required level of bash for the P/nuts. Is there anything else raising your ire?

:tampoline: England cricket .......... how long have you got ?!?!?!?! Good start for the Sri Lanka tour: bring on the youngsters. Ed Smith for god.

(Actually, the p'nuts were bought ready-bashed - can't be bothered these days. Only prob is that the feral count is up however careful I am to put it all inside the ground cage.)

For some years now the ivy growing on the back fence has been thick enough to give shelter the flock of sparrows which live in the vicinity of the chateau when they have a get together and hold what I call a "mass twitter". I used to be just one stop on a little circuit of venues for their daily get togethers but now appear to be the sole host as it is occuring every day. The noise they generate is almost unbelievable :goodvibes: I have no idea how many there are because if they are disturbed they scatter in all directions most of which are out of my line of sight.
