Interesting sight yesterday - a blackbird (m) - a regular or a newbie, I don't know - has figured out how to get inside the ground feeding cage and was very pleased with himself. Popping inside and outside all day long

for reasons unknown Iam well down on Blackbird numbers at present :( . I have one regular who has had the rowan berries all to himself plus sultanas. I am used to having three or four fighting over the goodies and one with a monopoly doesn't seem right :shake: .

This chap is better than the tv :D. He's taken over control of the cage now that he's found the key.
He sits on the top and tries to keep the speugs away, without a great deal of success I must say.

The recent snowy weather saw an upturn in Blackbird numbers in the chateau garden. On saturday last the bird count was a miserable two whilst this very day it was easy to count eight at any one time. They clearly liked what they had chanced upon during the frantic search for food six days ago. :blackbird: :blackbird:

Yes, my blackbird count shot up as well. And so did the collared dove visitations.
It's not all bad :)

Have been watching this all week: a f. blackbird has decided to befriend me  :hug2:.
When I put out breakfast she comes down immediately, showing no fear. This morning she excelled herself; right at my feet as soon as the food hit the ground.
I quietly spoke to her - no problem. Stayed there (the others were congregating but didn't come down) until she had had enuf and flew away.

Very surprised at how this 'contact' has developed over the week, especially as it's a female and not a more pushy male.
The rest of the day I can't tell her from the others  but she's certainly got breakfast sussed :).
