Hello everyone,
Long time no see. Placi told me about this place a while ago.

Anyways yesterday I counted 10 Peacock, 1 Red admiral, 1 Small white, 1 Meadow Brown and 1 Speckled Wood.

Today is added more Peacocks, 2 Tortoiseshells, 1 Large white and 1 Gatekeeper.

Waiting for my post to appear - that should be 14 Peacocks. 10 were on the buddliea and 4 on the thistle.

No I didn't, Jacksparrow and I'm afraid I've only just read your post about what size was the putative Frit :smack: . I s'pose it was a bit smaller than, say, a red admiral and had nicely sculpted edges to its wings.
The google pix check out as being a Frit but there are so many types I'm calling it a Putative Frit and can say with some certainty that there aren't many around :)

Ah no, Nuthatch - I didn't mean I'd solved the Frit(?) question, I meant Steve had answered the question I asked in 'Welcome' in the 'Butterflies' topic - ie. how did he find us.

Placi - could your butterfly have been a Brown Hairstreak? Apparently one has been spotted in Ambridge   :butterfly:

I thought you had made it up, Nuthatch !! But caution prevailed and I googled a 'Brown Hairstreak' and - it's truuuu
So no, it wasn't that either  but thanks for the giggle and the education.

I wish you wouldn't reveal my whereabouts - I get coachloads of sightseers. Sometimes it's like living in Holmfirth.
