I have seldom seen Butterflies this year.

Due to the unusual phenomenon of bright sunshine I have more putative Gatekeepers this morning - and also a Peacock which was sunning itself on a pond rock .

Due to the unusual phenomenon of bright sunshine I have more putative Gatekeepers this morning - and also a Peacock which was sunning itself on a pond rock .

For whatever reason it seems this year is a good year for Gatekeepers. Although I've had them in the past it was never with the frequency they've been appearing this year.

Lovely sunny day and first butterfly of the year visited albeit briefly.
I think it was a Peacock, yes, I'm pretty sure it was a Peacock .......
Anyway, it was wonderful to see

When the sun eventually appeared it turned out quite warm in the chateau garden. Cue the appearance of two Brimstones,one male,one female.

A Brimstone feasts on a Bluebell this afternoon. My first Orange Tip of the year also turned up but was a little camera shy.

Lovely picture ,Bluebells and Butterflies are still sleeping up my way but I did see a big Bumble Bee today.
