Saw :bee: two bees :bee: just now in the garden - one was basking on the wall, the other was bee-ing around :nod:

Can anyone identify this strange black and white object which I found in my garden this morning :shrug: ?
I suspect that the treerat on the right (the one with the red jersey and number 9 on his back) may know but he's not telling.

I later spotted him attempting to bury it for the winter but couldn't quite get a picture .......

In a single shaft of late autumnal sunshine, although the temperature was a chilly 44F, I espied a small but hardy flight of midgies flying up and down up and down up and down in the usual mindless manner which only midgies can demonstrate.
I betook myself to my hammock to contemplate The Meaning of Life :unsure: :scratch: :flying:
