White-Tailed Eagles in Schleswig - Holstein Industrial Parks

White-tailed Eagles (Haliaeetus albicilla) have become quite at home among the fields and industrial parks near us. They are frequently observed perched on the rows of high-bay warehouse roofs or on the tall high‑voltage transmission towers that criss‑cross the landscape. Yet they show little fear of people and will occasionally venture to the very edge of the town. The juveniles, in particular, are exceedingly inquisitive.
My wife was cycling home along a wooded path when a young eagle of this species flew low above her, flitting from tree to tree every twenty to thirty metres as if to keep pace and study her. This charming escort continued for four or five trees before the bird drifted off serenely.
I rather suspect he concluded she was no easy catch.
